MAKEUPBOXLDN BROW SHAPER REVIEW [gifted]

Well hello there!
Welcome to a brand new blog post where I will be giving you a review on the MakeupBoxLDN brow shaper

This beauty tool was very kindly gifted to me, I have not been paid to do this review.

So, what exactly is a brow shaper and what does it do?
It is a small brow tool that is designed to remove unwanted hair quickly, it is portable and has a folding head for on the go. Basically, anywhere you have unwanted hair you can use it there. The precision stainless steel blade does not cut or irritate the skin, or encourage new hair growth. This tool in particular doesn't just remove unwanted hair, it also doubles as a dermaplaning tool. The shaper lifts dead skin away while removing the hair, leaving behind a smoother skin surface for better makeup and skincare application.

How do you use a brow shaper?
  • Use on clean, dry skin
  • Pull skin tight
  • Place the shaper at a 45 degrees angle
  • Use short gentle strokes with no extra pressure
  • To clean, wipe the blade with a dry cloth
Advantages?
  • Effortless and easy to use
  • Instant results
  • Painless hair removal
  • Compact and portable
  • Reusable and affordable
  • Suitable for all skin care types
  • Hypo-allergenic stainless steel serrated edge
  • Designed not to cut or irritate skin
  • Does not encourage coarse hair growth

My thoughts?
I have been using this for a while now on my brows and upper lip to get rid of all of my unwanted hair, and I must say I am so surprised with the results. It actually does work, it's not painful at all so I completely agree with that claim. The blade on this tool is not extremely sharp to the point where you can cut yourself, it will comfortably glide on your skin. I always thought these kind of tools were gimmicks but no, this works and I am very impressed. It leaves my skin really smooth and soft and luckily for me, my hair did not grow back any darker which I was afraid of. It is super easy to use which is great and you can't really mess it up because you have so much control with it. I get my perfect brow shape in under a minute!

If you would like to try one of these for yourself then you can buy them here. They also very kindly gave me a discount 'alix10' (non-affiliate), which will get you some money off. Check out their Instagram and Facebook

Again, thank you to MakeupBoxLdn for sending this tool to me, I will be using this a lot in the future.
Thank you so much for reading,

REVOLUTION PRO FULL COVER CAMOUFLAGE FOUNDATION REVIEW

Well hello there!
Today I have another review post for you and this is for the Revolution Pro Full Cover Camouflage Foundation. Revolution Pro is part of Revolution Beauty so this is indeed a drugstore foundation and retails for only £7! This claims to be a highly pigmented and creamy foundation, it will create maximum coverage with an even, natural-looking finish. Let's see for ourselves!

Packaging
This foundation comes in a squeezy tube and this already makes it a good product to travel with, the black sticks with the theme of all of the Revolution Pro products which I like as it looks very sophisticated. It feels very lightweight which again makes it very travel friendly, and it is quite a small compact tube so you won't need to worry about it taking up too much room in your makeup bag. It does hold 25ml of product which is slightly less than a normal foundation amount but because of the price you can't really complain about that.

Application
The first thing I notice when applying this foundation is how easy it is to blend, as long as you don't use too much of it, it will blend out beautifully on your skin. It does have a semi-matte finish so it definitely has a shine but it is not completely dewy, I already know that this might effect the longevity of it on my oily t-zone but we shall see. It is a very pigmented and opaque product and a little goes a long way with this. The first layer has a good medium coverage to it, and you can build this up to full which is what I prefer a foundation to do because then you can control how much you are putting on.

Longevity
As mentioned this is a semi-matte formula and I knew this was not going to be long lasting on me. I have definitely tried other foundations that don't last long that were worse than this, but this did not last as long as matte foundations e.g. the Maybelline Super Stay Foundation. It's just a fact for me that if the foundation is not completely matte when applied my oils will start to come through a lot quicker. I tested this for around 10 hours so I put this on at 7:30, by the early afternoon my oils started to peak through and by the end of the day my t-zone was completely oily.

Opinion
So what is my final verdict on the Revolution Pro Full Cover Camouflage Foundation?! I love the formula of the foundation itself, it is super creamy and pigmented - it can be built up to full coverage as well so I do agree with this claim. It is full coverage in a way where it is not drying at all like some matte foundations do, it is semi-matte so I generally think people with dry skin will love this. The only thing I do not like about this is that it does not last long on my skin, but that was a given considering it isn't a matte foundation. I probably won't wear this to work again but 100% I will wear this on the weekends and when I know I won't be wearing foundation for a long period of time, even on a night out! What an absolute bargain for a foundation that has a formula like this, I would recommend this to someone who wants a full coverage foundation that is not drying/matte.

REVOLUTION TOTALLY SOPH KIT REVIEW

Well hello there!
Today I have another review for you and this is on the Revolution Totally Soph Kit, this set is part of Revolution's Christmas gift sets. This set contains a contour kit, 3 lip glosses and an eyeshadow palette all 'inspired' by Sophdoesnails who they have collaborated with before. At first I thought yes Soph has come out with more products but I don't think these are actually her products she has come up with, it's just new products with Soph's name on them. The kit retails for £30 and believe me at first I was like I am not buying that it seems way overpriced for what you get in the kit, however it is currently on offer on the Superdrug website for £18 so that's why I picked it up. Lets jump into the review!

Contour Kit
I have been using this kit every day since I got this and I absolutely love it, the formula of each product is beautiful and blends out so well. The contour shade works really well for my skin tone if I go in lightly and build it up, again blends out super nicely and lasts all day long. The highlighter looks stunning but because it is a icy shade this will not work for every skin tone, as Sophie is paler I understand that's why they put this shade in but I wish it was more of a champagne/gold tone so more people can use it. It is not glittery at all so it looks very smooth on the skin which I absolutely LOVE!!!!, and it does last all day long. Also neither of the contour and highlighter shade have any fall out so that's an extra bonus. The blush shade in this palette is not my usual shade as I like more pink/peachy tones and this is more of a nude colour. It blends in very well with the contour shade so it's not completely obvious that you are wearing blush. This palette is a lot bigger than Revolution's other contour kits that look like this but it is still very travel friendly so I will be continuing to use this all the time. I also love the nude packaging!

Eyeshadow Palette
This palette is so perfect of for a minimal effort everyday eye look, the shades in it are not too bold so this would be really good for beginners. I just done a basic look with this using the 2 warm toned transitions and then put the pinky shimmer shade in the middle of my lid and that was it. The shades are very pigmented and blend out beautifully, the Revolution eye shadow palettes never disappoint me and this was no exception. The mattes do not swatch very well on my arm but they are very pigmented on the eyes, so don't always trust finger swatches. The shimmers are pigmented on my arm, but when you apply it to the lid I would 100% wet the brush to intensify the colour more. Again I love the packaging of this palette as well because it is also nude, I like the fact there is a window so you can see exactly what shades you get in the palette.

Lip Glosses
I do not usually wear gloss but I feel like it is slightly coming back on trend, a lot of companies are coming out with new glosses and I've noticed that people are reaching for them a lot more. I first put a matte lip on and then put the 'Cake' gloss on top. Initially it looks stunning, and does not feel sticky at all. It feels quite moisturising actually, and feels really comfortable on the lips. I love the basic packaging with the black lid, and the actually tube is transparent so you can see exactly what colour you are getting. As expected the longer you wear a gloss, it starts to wear off and especially when you eat it just comes straight off. However, I do really like the formula of these glosses so I will definitely be wearing them more!

Overall I am very satisfied with this kit, you get a contour kit, eyeshadow palette and 3 lip glosses for such a cheap price. Although Soph didn't do this herself I still would recommend getting this if you are a fan of Soph and you need more of these products. I will 100% will be using the contour palette a lot especially for everyday use. If I feel like I don't want to put a lot of effort into a eye look and want to put something there, I will be using the eyeshadow palette because it's super pretty for a basic eye look. As I said I don't wear lip glosses a lot but I love the formula of these so if I'm feeling a glossy lip, I will be reaching for these. I love this kit and I am very glad I purchased it.

So that was my review on everything that you get in the Revolution Totally Soph Kit, if you are interested in buying it you can get it here.
Thank you so much for reading,

REVOLUTION PRO 4K HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE REVIEW

Well hello there!
For today's post I have a review post and I am so excited to be talking about this product. It is the Revolution Pro 4K Highlighter Palette, and I have my one in the shade Rose Gold. You can also get this in Gold but I opted for Rose Gold palette, as I felt the shades would suit me better. These palettes cost £8 and you get 4 highlighters in them. On the Revolution Beauty website, this palette is described as 'Create the ultimate glow with Revolution PRO 4K Highlighter Palette. Formulated with Revolution's most intense and buttery pressed pigment formula, Rose Gold features four incredible shades; a cool white shimmer with three peach-toned shades to add warmth and dimension to all skin tones'.

Packaging
If you have seen the new Revolution Pro range then you will know the packaging is black on every product (I think...well most of them anyway). So they have followed the theme with the black packaging, and it is made of cardboard. I like the packaging of this range across all of their products as I think it looks sophisticated and sleek. Also it's not actually a huge palette, like I definitely have highlighter palettes that are a lot bigger so I can 100% take this when travelling. When I open the palette up it kind of reminds me of the Huda Beauty highlighter palettes.

Application
These highlighters feel very buttery to touch which is what you would normally expect from a high end product, however they are a little bit powdery as well. When tapping your brush in the pan, the highlighters do come across glittery and I am not a massive fan of that. I found that to make these look amazing you need to tap your brush off a few times and the glitter particles fly off, then when applied to the face you are left with this beautiful and wet looking highlighter. It also can get quite messy in the palette but that can be wiped off very easily.

Swatches

Longevity
No surprise but this lasted all day at work and still looked stunning by the end of the day. I even wore the top right shade when I was fake tanned on a night out and it looked amazing all night long! I even got a couple of compliments on it.

Opinion
I have now used this palette a bunch of times now because I love love love the formula of these! It is much different to any of Revolution's other highlighters. They need to make single highlighters or more palettes with this exact formula because I will buy them! The fact that you get 4 big pans of highlighters for only £8 plus it is super travel friendly, what more is there to ask for? The only negative thing I have to say is that I do not like the fine glitter particles but that is quickly resolved by tapping my brush off a few times.  The packaging as well looks very sleek and high end so that is a complete bonus! I can't get over the quality for such a low price, if you have not tried either of the palettes you need to get your hands on them! If you are interested in buying you can get either of them here.

So that was my review on the Revolution Pro 4K Highlighter Palette.

ADAGIOTEA REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY!

Well hello there!
I have a bit of a different post for you guys today, yes makeup and skincare etc makes you feel beautiful on the outside what how about how you feel inside? Danielle at Adagio Tea very kindly reached out to me to ask if I would like to try some of their teas and there is also a giveaway so stay tuned to hear about that.

Just some background on Adagiotea, they have such a huge range of different types of tea. Which include: Black, Flavoured, Chai, Oolong, White, Green, Matcha, Herbal, Rooibos, Decaf, Pu-Erh and MastersThey are vegan and gluten free, any flavours are from essential oils and the traditional teas are pure leaves. Not all of the teas are caffeinated, as they also have a lovely herbal range. What makes them different is that their hand-picked teas are sourced from origin, they work directly with the farmers who produce them in their native countries. Coming straight from the source means that they are brimming with far more nutrients, they are full leaf with no added sugar and all-natural flavours.  On their website they also give you a lot of knowledge on tea which I didn't even realise how interesting it would be! They also do glassware which is beautiful and very easy to use.

Here are some of my favourite flavours:

Opinion
These teas are so refreshing, if normal tea bags don't cut it for you then you need to try these! You can tell that these are made from pure leaves and essential oils. They have such a strong smell and they all smell exactly how they are named, they don't taste as strong but depending on how long you leave the leaves to diffuse is how strong you will taste it. They tell you how much tea to put in and for how long which I think is super helpful.

Giveaway
Danielle is kindly giving away an ingenuiTEA teapot, a glass mug AND 15 small pouches of tea which makes up 150 cups! If you wish to enter this giveaway please bare in mind I will need to give your address to Danielle,  make sure you're fine with me doing that before entering.
To enter you will need to follow @alixholdenx on Twitter and retweet this tweet.

Thank you to Danielle to sending me these teas I absolutely love them!

CHOCOLATE ELIXIR GLOW PALETTE REVIEW

Well hello there!
Today I have another review post for you and this is for the I Heart Revolution Chocolate Elixir Glow Highlighter Palette. You can buy this online at Revolution Beauty and in Superdrug stores and this palette retails for £6. I love reviewing drugstore products for you so if you have any requests please let me know in the comments.

Packaging
The packaging looks like their eye shadow palettes where its a chocolate bar with the drips on it. It is a glossy nude colour with the pink/silvery metallic drips on top. It is a mini palette so super good for travelling and it feels very light. When you open it up you are presented with a mirror which again is another reason why it is good for travelling, you also get 2 highlighters. One shade is more of a champagne gold and the other is definitely a rose gold shade. Not really sure why but the rose gold pan is bigger than the other pan.

Application
When applied to the skin it actually applies quite smoothly which is nice, straight away I know I don't like the lighter shade because the glitter particles flew all over my face. The rose gold shade is too dark for me as a highlighter but could work as a blush topper. Both of the shades are really pretty and blinding.

Swatches

Longevity
These are blinding highlighters and luckily they kept that blinding power all day and they still looked the same when I got home from work. There was still glitter on my face, I was kind of hoping it would move off of my face but it didn't.

Opinion
Ok so I'm going to be straight up and say this is not my favourite highlighter palette in the world. The shades are beautiful but they just don't work for me personally. If you like glittery highlighters then you will like this palette, I do recommend it if you like that formula. I much prefer the formula of the rose gold shade but because it's too dark for me I cannot use it. I am going to pick up the Rose Gold Palette and see how I get on with that one. They have really good longevity power so that's another good thing to note. These palettes are only £6 for 2 highlighters and this mini palette has a mirror which is so good for travelling.

So that was my review on the Chocolate Elixir Glow Palette.
Thank you so much for reading,
