MY FAVOURITE MAKEUP OF 2017

Well hello there!
For my last post of this year, I thought I would share with you my favourite makeup of 2017! These products are items I have constantly been going back to all throughout the year and ones I can't live without.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette
Without a doubt this is my most used and loved eyeshadow palette that I own, I'm sure a lot of people who own this will agree. The quality of these eyeshadows are nothing like I have ever tried before, they blend so easily and the shade range is gorgeous! It is expensive - it is £41 but trust me it is completely worth the price. It is a warm toned palette which as you know are my absolute favourite colours to put on my eyes. Even the packaging is pretty with a velvet material on the outside, there is also a mirror, you get 14 shades with a brush as well. If you have not got this, it is definitely worth the investment. I am always going back to this palette when I go on nights out because I know it works and looks very good.

Jeffree Star Skin Frost
I have mentioned this a couple of times on my blog before so you might have expected this one, but the Skin Frost highlighter in Ice Cold is truly my favourite highlighter of all time. It is so pigmented and blinding, you will never have dull cheekbones with this highlighter. Again, it is another expensive product it's £25 but the pan size will last you a life time. You also get a mirror with it which is not a common with a single highlighter.

Mac Cosmetics Lipstick - Velvet Teddy
This is a classic but to me I only got into Mac makeup this year - unbelievable I know! I picked up one of their most popular shades which is Velvet Teddy, and I absolutely love it - I use it all the time. The Mac lipsticks are so creamy and one of my favourite brands for lipsticks, they are £16.50 but I have 6 Mac lipsticks now so you can tell how much I love them!

Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow
This product is practically what it says in the name - magnificent. It takes your eyeshadow look to level 100, it is stunning. I have mine in the shade Diamond Dust which is a silver glitter. It is very easy to apply with the wand, (I like to have a brown crease colour and put this all over the lid). You just let it try for 20 seconds or so, then it looks gorgeous and super reflective. Again, it is expensive because it is £23 for the small bottle, but I would buy this over and over again.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
This is such a classic drugstore concealer, but no matter how many new concealers I try I will always come back to this one. It is very cheap as it is only £4.19 and mine has lasted me a very long time. It has very good coverage for such a cheap concealer, if you have not tried this then I strongly recommend you do! I want to try their colour correcting concealers as well, I'm sure they are just as good.

Mac Big & Bold Lash
I may have only got this not too long ago, but I use it all the time! I am so glad I purchased this because I have not been able to put it down. It is £19.50 but so worth the money, I have talked about this in my October Favourites as well. It separates my top and bottom lashes extremely well and gives them the ultimate length that everyone wants.

So those were my favourite makeup products of 2017, I hope you had an amazing Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2018.
Thank you so much for reading,

MY CHRISTMAS MAKEUP LOOK

Well hello there!
First of all Merry Christmas to you all! I hope you all have an amazing day and eat lots of delicious food! As it is Christmas day I thought I would show you a classic red lip and glittery cut crease (first attempt) look. I went for glowy skin including a strong highlight, sliver glitter on the eyes and a bold red lip.

I was inspired by a photo I had seen on Pinterest and I just had to recreate it.
For my primer I used the ELF Hydrating Primer, this just basically feels like a moisturiser. Lately I have been getting a lot of dry patches under my eyes so I like to use a hydrating primer. For my foundation I used one of the Primark ones, the 'Perfect Finish Foundation'. This claims to be medium coverage whilst having a semi-matte finish. I do agree that it is semi-matte as it definitely has a glow, however it hasn't got the best coverage - I would say it's light to medium. It is very liquidy as well. For my concealer I used the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in shade 'Light' as this is also a hydrating product. I love this concealer, it feels very nice and smooth on my skin and it has very good coverage as well. For my powder I used my trustee Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which is amazing, I have spoken about this before on my Everyday Makeup Routine. I also used the Rimmel Natural Bronzer which I use nearly everyday. For my contour, blush and highlight I used the Tarte Ladies Night Clay Palette - which blends out beautifully on my skin and smells like chocolate! For even more glow (because I clearly am extra) I used the shade 'Chroma' in the Luna Glow palette from Primark (review coming soon).

Next onto eyes: For my eyebrows I used to swear by the Freedom Pomade but recently I have fallen in love with the Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil. It takes half the time as a pomade and is much easier (I am in the shade 3). For my eye shadow I used the Soph x Makeup Revolution palette, and I used a combo of the red, brown and transition shades. I then got my Boing Airbrush Concealer and cut half of my crease, this was my first ever attempt of doing it so probably not the best. For the glitter I used the Stila Magnificent Metals in the shade Diamond Dust - which is STUNNING! I want more of these, it is so easy to apply. My eyelashes are the Primark SoSu lashes in the style 'Holly', these are so pretty and fluffy I love them. I used the Mac Big & Bold Lash Mascara for my bottom lashes and the Mac Eyeliner in shade 'Teddy' in my water line. Finally, for lips I used a Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in the shade 'Creeper'.

I hope you enjoyed this post, definitely something new for me. If you enjoy these makeup look posts then let me know in the comments, and I'll be sure to do them more in the future!
Thank you so much for reading,

MY HIGH END BEAUTY WISHLIST

Well hello there!
For today's blog I thought I would share with you my high end beauty wishlist. There are so many products out there that I wish I could buy but I just don't have the money for.

So...if I did have all the money in world what makeup exactly would I buy?

1. 100% the first thing I would purchase is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer:
This stuff is so good apparently that people can't even find a close enough dupe for it. I need this in my life but it's so bloody expensive which makes me sad. You can buy it off of the Tarte website but it costs £22, but I just can't bring myself to spend that on the concealer yet. I seen so many reviews on this and it's apparent that it is the best concealer on the market. You can buy this (here).

2. The Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation:
This has just recently come out and is all over YouTube. If Nikkietutorials says a foundation is amazing then you best believe it is exactly that. She has the exact same skin type as me and she absolutely loves this foundation, so if it will work for her then I imagine it will work amazingly for me as well. This foundation costs £32 which is not the most expensive foundation price tag I have seen, but still is far from being the cheapest. You can buy this (here).

3. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow:

Look how stunning this is..it costs a whopping £49 because of the brand but my god I would not mind this in my makeup collection. It has a contour shade and a highlight shade which look absolutely gorgeous. You can buy this (here).

4. Too Faced Just Peachy Eyeshadow Palette:

I love the colour arrangement in this palette, it has everything you need for an everyday look and more. This isn't available in the UK (which I am praying it will soon) so it won't be as easy to get. This palette smells like figs and peaches which sounds so good. It costs £33 which I think is quite reasonable considering it is a high end brand and their other eyeshadow palettes cost a bit more. You can buy this (here).

5. Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder:
I have been wanting to get my hands on this for the longest time but I just can never justify spending £29 on a setting powder! I have heard so many good things about this so it must be worth the money, but I just can't do it. You can buy this (here).

6. Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder:
Lastly, this is a big wish. If you were to look at the price and the amount of product you actually get in this, you would think it was a joke. This costs £35 and the pan size is sooo small!! It is incredibly tiny which you think for that price it would be much much bigger. The queen of makeup (Nikkitutorials) has this and she loves it, and also my favourite YouTuber (Sophdoesnails) has it and she loves it as well! I seem to buy a lot of products that they hype about because I trust their opinion. You can buy this (here).

So that was my high end beauty wishlist! What is on your wishlist?
Thank you so much for reading,

GLOSSY BOX OPENING | DECEMBER 2017

Wello hello there!
It's Glossy Box time again and this for the month of December. I absolutely loved last months box and was so happy with it, but this months box is even better and I can't wait to tell you about it!

In this months box you get:

Naobay Equilibria Gel to Milk Cleanser - I have never heard of this brand, which is a good thing because I am really enjoying trying new things. This is a revitalising face cleanser for normal/combination skin, which sounds really good. I love face cleansers so I was very excited to see this in the box. It is a golden gel that transforms into a cleansing milk when in contact with water, and leaves your skin feeling hydrated. When I saw the price of this I was in utter shock, it is a full size product and retails for £15.99!! It's worth more than the actual monthly subscription! As it is expensive, it does make me more excited to try it so I will give you an update if I do end up loving it.
Model Co 3D Lash Primer - I have never tried a lash primer before, in fact I didn't even know they existed! This product claims to condition and thicken your lashes in preparation for mascara, and makes them longer and fuller. Sounds really good to me - I just hope it works! This product retails for £7 which if it does work, then that is a reasonable price. However, if it is a complete gimmick then I'll be glad it came in this box and I didn't buy it!
Soaper Duper Rich and Creamy Shea Butter Body Wash - We did get a body wash in last months box so I wasn't amazed to get another one this month, but I will still try it and see what it is like. I must say, this smells really good as it has vanilla pods in it which is one of my favourite scents. It is made of 97% natural ingredients and has no parabens, mineral oils or sulphates. This is not a full size product but the full size does retail for £6.50, which is more expensive but has it is 97% natural you can see why the price is more high.
Laqa & Co Cloud Lips - As you know I am obsessed with makeup (obviously - my blog is competely dedicated to it), so when I saw a lipstick in the box you bet this makeup addict got excited to get this. Also, can we talk about the packaging? Rose gold! I love a bit of rose gold and when its packaged with makeup - the best combo! The lipstick is in the shade 'Day Dream' which is a beautiful pinky mauve colour, it swatches quite pigmented so I am looking forward to trying this on my lips. It does not have a scent which is sometimes a good things as it can be quite overpowering. This is a full size product and it retails for £12.70, which is more expensive than most drugstore brands.
Steve Laurant Precision Tip Eyeliner - Another makeup item?? Eeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk! This time it is a liquid eyeliner which is amazing! The packaging is also rose gold which by this point I am going to cry with happiness. I have not tried this yet, but what I do love about it is that it is smaller packaging, it's a lot thinner and has a very fine nib which for me will be easier to hold and control. I have just swatched it and it is really black, I hate it when eyeliners aren't fully opaque. I let it dry down and rubbed across the swatches and they didn't budge which is good as it will hopefully be long lasting. Oh my god this liner retails for £18! How crazy is that. I am super happy about this product.

So that was the December 2017 edition of Glossy Box. I am so so happy with this months box, these products all add up to over £50 and you only buy the box for £10! If you love trying new things then you definitely need to try Glossy Box. The box this month is also a stunning pattern and says 'mince pies starry skies' which is super cute. You also get some Raffaello Coconut treats in there, which I'm sure is just a little something from Glossy Box as it is Christmas which is lovely of them.

You can sign up for Glossy Box (here).
Thank you so much for reading,

MAYBELLINE SUPERSTAY FOUNDATION REVIEW | IS IT REALLY FULL COVERAGE?

Wello hello there!
I am going to review for you the Maybelline Superstay Foundation that is supposed to be full coverage and last 24 hours! I'm not exactly sure who would wear a foundation for 24 hours but I will test and note down what the foundation is like throughout the day. I have worn this a couple of times before but I did not really take note of what it was like. This foundation retails for £9.99 so it is a drugstore foundation and if it is amazing and full coverage like it says, then we will have a success on our hands!

Packaging
Just want to briefly go over the packaging as it is a full review. I do really like the packaging of this foundation, it is a clear glass bottle with a white lid. It does look like luxury brand packaging which is a very nice touch. Obviously the product inside is what matters but I do like to tell you about the packaging as well.

Application
For me I would say it applies better with a damp sponge, the coverage is a lot better this way. I have tried applying with a brush but I prefer it with a sponge. On my skin it is medium to full coverage, I can still see a couple of blemishes but it is not bad at all. The coverage of this foundation is amazing, if you apply one layer it is medium coverage but if you build up another layer it does end up as full coverage and it looks so flawless!

Longevity
I am so so impressed with this foundation, my make up still looked flawless at the end of the night. I had a couple of areas that were slightly oily which were my nose and a little on my forehead, but that is very normal for me as I have a combination skin type. It does not come off at all or become patchy, it stays on perfectly all day/night.

My opinion
I have tried this foundation a few times now and I must say I do love it, it's one of the best drugstore foundations I have ever tried. This foundation costs only £9.99 and I prefer it to other foundations I own that are double and triple the price. It claims to be a 24 hour wear foundation but who wears foundation for that long? I will say it does last me all day so I would agree on the claim to be long lasting but not quite sure about 24 hours. If you are on the hunt for a new drugstore foundation that is medium to full coverage, I would certainly check this one out. Just for reference I have shade 05 Light Beige, which I think is the lightest shade (not 100% sure on that). It is a fraction too dark but it works well with my pale complexion.

You can buy this foundation here.

So that was my review on the Maybelline Superstay Foundation.
Thank you so much for reading,

MY FAVOURITE HIGHLIGHTERS HIGH END & DRUGSTORE

Well hello there!
If you know me then you'll know that I am one for that blinding highlight and I put highlighter on every single day! In this post I am going to talk you through some of my favourite highlighters that I simply cannot live without!
Now I am all about going to Superdrug and picking up highlighters that aren't that expensive. However, sometimes you do have to invest in more expensive makeup to get the best quality. Highlighters that are cheaper can be just as good as the expensive ones, but I like to have that highlight popping all day. Hence why there are a couple in here that are more on the expensive side. Just to let you know that 3 out of 4 of these are palettes with multiple shades and not just a single shade.
Anastasia Beverley Hills x Nicole Guerriero
This is a highlighter palette and is high end. I don't tend to buy a lot of high end products purely because I cannot afford to keep purchasing them. However, when I saw this hyped up on YouTube early this year, I just had to buy it. I can tell you that it was worth every penny. The quality of these highlighters is incredible and they look beautiful the cheekbones, my favourite shade in this palette is 'Forever Lit' as it is the palest and looks best with my skin tone. They are insanely pigmented and don't emphasise my texture. I have looked everywhere and I can't find this on the internet? I did not think this was limited edition. Well if you look on the Anastasia Beverley Hills website, there are other highlighter palettes on their that are just as amazing! This is a high end brand so their highlighter palettes are £41.
Sleek Solstice
This is a drugstore palette, and I think this was the first highlighter product I ever bought and what made me so obsessed with them as I am today. For the price of
£9.99, I think everyone if you have not already - give it a go! My favourite shade in this palette is the top right shade which is a light purple colour and this has a blinding icy tone. I don't really use the cream shade because I have other products I like better. This palette is cheaper, it retails for £9.99 and you can buy this here.
Jeffree Star Skin Frost - Ice Cold
This is another high end brand because it retails for £25, I know that is a lot but this is a massive pan of product - it will last you forever! The packaging is a hot pink colour which I love and it also has a mirror. This is probably my number 1 highlighter because the shade is perfect for my skin tone and it is super blinding!! This is a high end product so these highlighters cost £25 which I don't think is that bad considering how big the pan is. You can buy this from here.
Soph X Makeup Revolution
This is a recent discovery of mine, I bought this a couple of months ago when it come out. What I love most about this palette is that it is for every skin tone, which is something that not all highlighter palettes do. As you could guess my favourite shade is the top left which is the lightest one. Not only are the colours beautiful and extremely pigmented but you have a choice of 8 different shades and it only retails for £8! It is very cheap for how good the quality is. I think Sophie did such a good job with this highlighter palette and I hope she comes out with more products in the future. As I said this palette is only £8 and you can buy this here.
So those are my favourite highlighters! If you have any favourites, be sure to let me know in the comments.
Thank you so much for reading,

♥Alix♥

1 MONTH OF BLOGGING | WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

Well hello there!
First of all I just would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has taken time out of their day to read my blog posts, it means so much for me you don't even realise! Just a little shout out to my mum and boyfriend who are my biggest fans and are so supportive! I started this blog because I have a big passion for makeup and now that passion has turned into blogging about it! I can't believe I'm saying this because I just feel like time goes by so quickly, but I have been blogging for a month already! A MONTH!! So it isn't exactly the longest time but to me, after wanting to do this for such a long time I feel like it is a big achievement.  I wanted to do this post to reflect back on different things I have learned in the short amount of time of blogging.

1. The blogging community are full of the loveliest people
Other people that you may not have even met or spoken to can be more supportive than people you do know, I honestly feel like I have made a few friends already. A lot of bloggers/blogger pages do threads on twitter which gives you a chance to gain some new followers, and for you to get to know other bloggers as well. I luckily haven't come across any negative people which I hope I never do!

2. Buying a domain
To be honest I have heard mixed reviews on this subject but the majority say to get a domain, I've read mostly that people were so glad that they did it. I personally have not done this yet (but I will be next year) and I have read and heard that if you are serious about your blogging, then become self hosted. People have said that brands are more drawn to people that have their own website. Also, it must be nice to have more control over your website and to do whatever you want with it.

3. Brands will not come to you straight away
Now this is a given but it is true. I will sit there comparing my blog to other people who have been doing this for years! They get PR from companies all the time but this is because they have a huge following. If you try hard enough you will get there one day, it does not happen over night.

4. Interact and engage on social media
The more time you spend spreading a positive attitude on social media, the more people will support you back. For me, Twitter has been the best platform for this, you can get involved with group chats, threads and just generally talking to other bloggers! Making friends is also good if you go to events as you won't feel like you are on your own.

5. Doing some research
I starting doing this after I began blogging, but it is just learning little things to help with your posts. Just an example - your photos, I have seen so many people say that they use wallpaper samples for their backgrounds. I think your photo can make people more attracted to read your post - this is something I definitely need to work on! I read and look at different peoples blogs all the time just to get some inspiration.

6. Finally - I have learn't what my true passion is!
If anyone knows me then you will know that I probably come across quite boring - I wake up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, have a shower and then go to bed. Then repeat. I have always loved creative writing, in school I really enjoyed writing stories because it was a chance for me to be creative and come up with my own twists in stories. I feel like blogging is a combination of creative writing and what you love talking about, which for me is makeup. I love the fact that I now work towards something instead of the same old routine. I have not done this for the freebies and getting paid for posts, I have done it to express myself and be proud of something that I do. It may be just a hobby to me at the moment but you never know where life takes you.

Bit of a lengthy talky blog but I hope you enjoyed reading! I just want to say a massive thank you to anyone who has read, followed or interacted with my blog as it means so so much to me. At this current moment I have over 4.3K page views which in insane!!! I have been only been doing this for a month but I am so happy of where it is at the moment. I wish I started this a long time ago but I never had the confidence to do it.
Thank you so much for reading,

NOVEMBER FAVOURITES

Well hello there!
So it is favourites time again and it is the start of December, Christmas is round the corner!
Last month I was all about the L'Oreal True Match Foundation but this month I went back to the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation. I forgot how good this was - my skin agrees with L'Oreal foundations (as you can tell!). Most foundations will stick to my dry patches but I don't have that problem with this brand. I strangely love how thick this is because it is medium to full coverage as the name suggests. It blends out beautifully with a damp sponge but does also blend out very well with a brush.

Another highlighter to talk about this month - it's the W7 Glowcomotion Shimmer/Highlighter/Eyeshadow. It is a multi purpose product but I just use this for highlight. Remember how I was after a pale gold shade? Well I found the perfect one! It does not look too dark on me which is what I find with other gold highlighters, so if you are pale you will like this one but I do think it will look beautiful on medium skin tones. It is only £6.95 as well which is so cheap - extra bonus!

Obviously I had to include the Stiletto lipstick by Makeup Revolution. From the second I tried this one for the first time, I knew I would not be able to put it down. The more you use it the more creamy it is and it gets easier to apply. It is a browny nude which is my favourite lipstick colour to wear, this lipstick will suit every skin tone perfectly! I even love the smell of this lipstick which does not matter too much but it is a bonus. Especially for how cheap this as well - only £3! They are currently out of stock on the Tam Beauty website, which proves that these are popular.

My last favourite of the month is another Makeup Revolution product (shock!), it is their liquid highlighter in 'Starlight'. These are supposedly a dupe for the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops which is amazing as the Cover FX liquid highlighters retail for £34, and Makeup Revolution ones only retail for £6! I would not spend £34 on a liquid highlighter so I am glad a drugstore brand has come out with them, and I am noticing that more drugstore brands are creating them! The highlighter I have is a metallic pinky tone which is very pretty, it looks very beautiful on your skin and does not look patchy at all. I would suggest doing one cheekbone at a time as they dry down fast, but apart from that I love it.

Where you can buy them:
L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation
W7 Glowcomotion
Stiletto lipstick
Liquid Highlighter

So those were my November favourites!
Thank you so much for reading,

CHRISTMAS MAKEUP GIFT SET GUIDE 2017

Well hello there!
Are you a makeup lover? Are you struggling to find some good gift sets for Christmas? Well you are definitely in the right place! If any of you love make up like I do then you would have done what I did and searched high and low for gift sets.
Below I am going to list some sets that caught my eye and I may have even asked for myself.

Jouer Cosmetics Highlighter Trio Set 1
As the name suggests this gift set comes with 3 travel size Jouer highlighters: Citrine (shimmering gold), Topaz (shimmering peachy gold) and Rose Quartz (shimmering champagne pink). I have heard a lot of good things about these highlighters and have always wanted to try them. The set retails for £35 which I think is quite reasonable as Jouer is a high end brand and 1 full size highlighter is £19. You can buy this on BeautyBay here.

Limited Edition Powder Highlighter Trio Set 1

Cover FX Illuminating Prime & Set Kit
This is another travel size set as it is a high end brand, but I think this deal is really good considering what is included. You get the Illuminating Primer, Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade Moonlight and the Illuminating Setting Spray. If you love to glow you will love this gift set! I also think travel sized products are a good way to try out brands that you are not sure whether to splash your cash on. This set only costs £22 and you can find it on BeautyBay here.

Smashbox Try It Kit: Bestsellers
I have never personally tried Smashbox products but again I would love to try it and I think this is a really good way to try them. They have put all of the best seller products into travel size form and put them into a gift set for you to try out! It includes: Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Be Legendary Cream Lipstick in shade Primrose, 24 Hour Shadow Primer, Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven and Full Exposure Mascara. I think they are most famous for their primers? Or at least that's the first product I heard about from Smashbox. This gift set costs £22 and you get 5 travel size products, you can buy this from Boots here.

Benefit Work kit, girl! Work-day essentials makeup kit
I don't know about you but I love Benefit makeup! It is such a good brand and they do a few of these makeup kits but this one is by far my favourite. It includes: the POREfessional pore primer, the roller lash super-curling mascara in black,
the hoola matte powder bronzer, the benetint rose-tinted lip & cheek stain and the cute makeup bag. For £27.50 I think that is definitely worth the price considering what you get in the set and it includes the makeup bag. However, at the moment it is on sale on the Debenhams website for £24.75 which you can buy from here

Makeup Revolution Ultimate Pro Collection 2017
Obviously I was going to find one that was Makeup Revolution, I couldn't resist. But seriously for the price, this would make such a good gift for someone. This includes: a contour kit, a duo baked highlighter, an eyebrow kit, an eye primer, a lip palette, the pro HD eye brush, the pro HD flat contour brush, the pro HD flat eye brush, and the Revolution Redemption Palette. You get makeup and a few brushes as well which is really good, if you are a fan of Makeup Revolution then you will really enjoy this gift set. It retails for £35 but it's on sale for £25 at the moment, you can buy this from Superdrug here

Clinique - 'Pop Til You Drop' lipstick Christmas gift set
For the last one I thought I would show you this, it is a gift set including 4 lipsticks by Clinique in the shades: blushing pop, peppermint pop,  punch pop and raspberry pop. I think the colours look stunning! This would make cute gift set for someone who loves their lipsticks and are open to wearing different colours. This retails for £25 but is currently on sale on the Debenhams website for £22.50 which you can buy here.

So that was a makeup gift set guide, I hope you saw some gift sets that you liked!
Thank you so much for reading,
